The machine brews excellent coffee and is great value for money.
1. I have seen quite a few reviews on Amazon mentioning the pressure gauge is not working. That was my first experience too! I backflushed the machine using the provided rubber blind filter, and also used a finer grind. That fixed it and brought the pressure to about 10 bars.
2. Make sure you optimize the extraction time by long-pressing the coffee button .. i have currently optimized it to 22 seconds matching my taste. You can set the time until the coffee is adequately extracted. The next time you do a single click, the machine will extract till the time you have preset with long press earlier, or stop if you click the button again.
3. Tip - I click the coffee button without filter attached to let the water flow for about 2-3 seconds to warm every part. It also cleans the outlet.
Con: The milk frother does not seem to work well. Gives a lot of water out. Must be some better way to make it work.
The Budan espresso machine is a good value for beginners or casual espresso drinkers. It offers user-friendly operation, a good feature set for the price, and the ability to make decent espresso drinks at home. Those seeking top-notch build quality or aiming for perfect shot consistency might need to consider higher-end machines.
Initially was deeply disappointed and explored every option to return it. Was influenced by James Hoffman’s review of the Aldi machine which is similar, if not identical to the Budan ,as they both come from China. This machine is not for the novice and an adjustable burr grinder is a must have companion. I started with a hand grinder and the results were frustrating and awful. Post arrival of a Baratza grinder ( an excellent entry level grinder) the results have been pretty amazing. It comes with a solid 58mm porta filter and the 2 baskets are premium quality. Once you figure out the appropriate grind size it produces excellent coffee way superior to the MNC coffee chains in Delhi. You can get good ,if not decent coffee at a coffee chain outlet but if you want amazing coffee the Budan is an inexpensive solution. A decent Australian or Italian machine is 5x the price, if not more. Highly recommended.
The machine works precisely with rich aromatic coffee and delicious crema. Absolutely love this product, worth the price.Highly recommend it to everyone.
I get a very decent shot, easy to use and still running good even after a year.
