Product Decription8787

The AeroPress brews a single cup using immersion and gentle hand pressure, giving you a clean, full bodied coffee with almost none of the bitterness that longer methods pull out. Coffee steeps in the chamber like a French press, then the plunger pushes it through a paper filter, which catches the fines and most of the oils. The result is closer to a very concentrated filter coffee than to espresso.
It is also unusually forgiving. Contact time is short and the ideal water temperature is lower than pour over, around 85 degrees Celsius, so a slightly off grind rarely ruins the cup. That combination of speed, tolerance and a body that survives being knocked around in a rucksack is why it travels better than any other brewer.
Use a medium fine grind, between filter and espresso. Start at 15 to 17g of coffee to 200 to 250ml of water, and adjust the dose rather than the steep time if you want it stronger.

FAQs

AeroPress vs AeroPress Go: What's the difference?
Both work the same way. The AeroPress Go is built for travel, with everything packing neatly into an included mug, and it brews a slightly smaller volume. The Original has the larger chamber and suits a brewer that mostly lives on your kitchen counter.
Does an AeroPress make real espresso?
No. It reaches around one bar of pressure against the nine an espresso machine produces, so there is no true crema. What it makes is a strong concentrate that works well as a base for milk drinks.
What is the inverted method?
Brewing with the AeroPress upside down so nothing drips through while the coffee steeps. Assemble it plunger down, add coffee and water, then fit the cap and flip it onto your cup to press. It gives more control over steep time but is messier, so learn the standard method first.
Can I use a metal filter instead of paper?
Yes, and it changes the cup. A metal filter lets the oils through for a heavier body with a little sediment. Paper gives the cleaner result the AeroPress is known for.
How long does one last?
Years. The Tritan body is very hard to damage, and the only wearing part is the rubber seal, which is replaceable once it stiffens or loses its grip on the chamber wall.
