A Brief Guide to All Things AeroPress | Advantages and More

Can a simple coffee maker revolutionise the way we brew coffee?

The answer is yes. In 2005, when Alan Adler designed and launched the AeroPress, it changed the way coffee lovers brewed their beverages.

AeroPress made coffee home brewing quick, simple and delightful. Its compact size and portability made it popular among travel enthusiasts who needed their coffee fixes as well.

In this article, we will walk you through all things AeroPress. From its history to its ability to brew grit-free, delicious coffee and a step-by-step guide.

The History of AeroPress

The seemingly simple AeroPress coffee maker has an interesting history intertwined with many innovations. It was invented by Alan Adler, an American inventor with approximately 40 patents in electronics, optics, aerodynamics and of course, coffee.

Disappointed by his own bad experiences with coffee makers, he embarked on an adventure in 2003. Alan began his experiments to make a cup of good coffee without any hassle.

During his months-long experiment, he studied the coffee brewing process to determine which variables affect the taste of brewed coffee. Once he understood the ideal conditions that make a cup of coffee good, he set about brewing a manual coffee press which would brew under these ideals.

After two years and over 30 prototypes later, he finalised the design of the AeroPress. He launched the first AeroPress coffee maker at the Coffee Fest Seattle in November 2005 to positive reviews.

Moving ahead, almost two decades later, AeroPress enjoys the same rave reviews from coffee lovers across the world today.
