SCA Barista Skills Intermediate
SCA Barista Skills Intermediate
SCA Barista Skills Intermediate
An SCA certified two day course for people already working behind a machine who want to formalise their skills and earn recognised certification. Led by SCA Authorized Trainer Sahil Thakkar, it covers espresso calibration, milk beverage preparation and workflow management through lectures and hands on practice.
This is the second module in the SCA Barista Skills pathway. Foundation covers the basics. Intermediate assumes you can already pull a shot and texture milk, and builds on that toward professional standard.
Who should attend
Working baristas who want SCA certification against their experience.
Cafe owners and managers who need to train staff to a consistent standard.
Home baristas who have outgrown trial and error and want structured instruction.
Anyone who has completed Barista Skills Foundation and is ready for the next module.
Anyone seeking professional entry into the food and beverage industry at more than entry level.
What the course covers
Two days of in person training combining classroom sessions with time on the machine.
Espresso calibration. Dialling in grind, dose and yield to a target, and adjusting when the coffee or conditions change. This is the skill that separates consistency from guesswork.
Milk beverages. Texturing to the right microfoam for each drink, pouring to standard, and holding quality across a service rather than one cup.
Workflow management. Sequencing drinks, managing a bar under pressure and keeping the station clean and efficient while output is high.
The course is delivered in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
Assessment and certification
An on site practical assessment plus an online theory exam, which you complete within 20 days of the course. SCA certification is awarded on successful completion of the exam.
SCA certification is recognised internationally, which matters if you are building a career in coffee rather than a hobby.
About the trainer
Mr. Sahil Thakkar, expert coffee consultant and authorised SCA trainer. CEO of the Italian Barista Academy and co founder and CEO of Springold Hospitalities Pvt Ltd.
He holds Italian diplomas in roasting, barista training, sensory analysis, cafe management, green coffee and coffee brewing.
Before you book
Bring whatever machine experience you already have. The course works best for people who have spent real time behind a bar, because the content assumes a working baseline rather than teaching from zero.
If you are starting out, book Barista Skills Foundation first. The full range of coffee training covers both modules alongside shorter workshops.
Training also pairs well with the right kit at home. If you are practising between sessions, the espresso machines range and a milk pitcher sized to your usual drink make a real difference to how fast the skills stick.
